Austenitic manganese steel (Hadfield): chemical composition
Austenitic manganese steels (Hadfield steels) combine high carbon with high manganese, so that after solution annealing and water quenching the microstructure is fully austenitic and tough. In service the surface work-hardens under impact while the core stays ductile, which is why these grades withstand heavy blows that would crack harder wear materials. Chromium, molybdenum, nickel or a higher manganese level shift the balance between abrasion resistance, yield strength and toughness in heavy sections.
Crusher jaws, cone crusher mantles and concaves (bowl liners), hammers, blow bars and liner plates for quarrying, mining, cement and recycling, plus other parts exposed to heavy impact combined with abrasion.

Austenitic manganese steel (Hadfield): cast and machined in-house
We sand-cast manganese steel wear parts at our foundry in Mandra and solution-anneal and water-quench them in-house. Chemistry is checked on every heat by spectrometer, mechanical tests are carried out, and parts are supplied with EN 10204 3.1 inspection certificates. Machining, where required, is done in the group's own CNC machine shop.
- Sand casting at our foundry in Mandra, Attica; centrifugal casting for bushings, sleeves and liners
- Heat treatment at the foundry (water, oil or air quench); CNC machining in our machine shop in Perama
- Spectrometer analysis of every heat, mechanical testing and NDT
- EN 10204 3.1 inspection certificates; ISO 9001 (both plants) and ISO 14001 (foundry) certified
